Hi guys,
So my credit score is really bad and I'm unsure of how to improve it.
When I was younger, I committed fraud due to an unsavoury ex boyfriend, I now have a cifas flag (2013) against me (first party fraud) but not a criminal record.
My barclays bank account is defaulted (2013) with a balance of £2,250.
I have a ccj (2015) to my name due to a student loan messing me around which I'm still gathering evidence on how to fight.
Trust me, I already know my situation looks dire, would just like some advice as i know it can't get worse than it is already.
Thanks

Barclays default will be removed in 2019. The CCj is recent so will have a good while before it goes.
I am sure the CIFAS flag goes after 6 years also, although can be longer depending on what happened ? What did the fraud entail?
In all honesty there is not a huge amount you can do. Make sure you are on the electoral register, run any accounts you do have properly. If you can get a home phone with BT they report to Equifax on a landline. You could also get a cash builder card and use the credit builder option. But it's really a case of being patient.0 -
Fraud was a cheque paid in...0

Dire in respect to what? Employment??
I mean you probably won't be getting into a job which involves banking or finance, but apart from that you are generally OK with your sort of background even if a background check is run (though, sadly, that cifas flag will put people off if they think you'll be fiddling the tills, so to speak. Would need some explanation)
Also, I see your post in November 2015:

Did you follow the advice given and contact CIFAS? And why is there over a month in between that thread this one? Did you have a credit check done and get rejected?
Nothing much you can do about CCJ - that will be there for 6 years. Plus, as crafty as the student loan company can be (I got a CCJ from them in 2012 for I suspect similar reasons), you have to take some personal responsibility in your situation. That's the key to better money management and a healthier credit record.0 -
Likely that it will be the 6 years for the CIFAS, they normally only eep it longer if they suspect the fraud is ongoing.
I think you know yourself your unlikely to get any credit while having a CIFAS marker unfortunately. But it's not the end of the world these things will be removed in the next 48/60 months. Then you will have a fresh start, so basically just need to bide your time.0
