CCJ Deadline is today - What do I do?

Right, I am a bit of an idiot. I know this so please don't tell me what an idiot I am.

I received a CCJ claim form that I was supposed to fill in and return before Christmas. I have just been digging out ll the letter that relate to this debt and found an unopened one, which is dated 25/12/16 (were they really in work Christmas day to print this!?) Anyway, it says that I have until the 04/01/17 to respond to the claim form or a CCJ will be issued against me after this date and I will have to pay the full amount within one calendar month. Is this right? I can't pay it all in one go,

I should have filled out the claim form and sent it back. If I do it today and send it recorded delivery to get there tomorrow do you think that is too late?

I just don't know what to do?

Get it in the post today, it may still be accepted.

If you don't, you will get judgement by default, and a monthly payment figure set by the court, without the benefit of seeing your income/expenditure details.

If that happens you can apply to the court to vary the payment to a more affordable figure, using court form N245.

If the issue date is x December, the service date is (x +5) December if Northampton Court (x+3 otherwise)

You have 14 days from service date to either offer payment by instalments, dispute debt or acknowledge service. The last of these gives you a 14-day extension. If it's Northampton Court you can (and it's better to) do all this online

If you don't like the instalment order you are given, and this has all been done without a hearing, you can request a redetermination without fee. But you must do this within 14 days of judgement

Thank you for your reply and the link to the letter.

I did try to do it online as there is a section on the letter that gives a password etc to be able to do this, but when I went on and logged in the section for admitting the amount and offering a way to pay it back, requested the forms to be filled out and sent back.

I have filled the forms out and sent them next day delivery. Fingers crossed it is taken into account, as I am a full time student with an unemployed husband and 4 kids, so we simply can't afford any high repayments.
