Pension - totus capital

Hi - I just wondered if anyone has an informed opinion on Totus Capital. They contacted me and stated they have taken over my Standard Life pension fund. I contacted Standard Life and they said this was so. I invested in 'nucleus' that Totus offered me and also deposited another small pension with them. Within 6 months on paper they had increased my pension plan by £10K. I am due redundancy from a company and I was looking to invest further with Totus.

Can anyone confirm they are utterly legit? I don't want to invest the whole of my pension monies if there is even a whiff of a 'sharp practice' about them.

    From a quick net search
Totus are a small private company, formerly STG Financial Services Limited, set up in 2005 and are registered with the FCA. According to the FCA register they can manage client money but are not allowed to hold it. They are not tied to any provider. The required accounts have been filed with Companies House.

I doubt that SL would have dealings with them unless they had been fully checked out. So nothing to indicate that there is anything to be concerned about.

One cant say what the £10K means without knowledge of the pot size. Since the BREXIT vote UK based investors have seen typical gains of 20% on broad global equity investments, mainly due to the fall in the value of the £.

This would indicate that they bought the book of your previous advisory firm.

They didnt offer it to you. They would have advised you to do it. Nucleus is a platform used by advisers.

Most advisory firms are small local companies. So, it is unlikely that anyone here has used the company. It is a bit like asking the internet what the butcher down the end of your road is like. They are FCA regulated and authorised to give advice.

In this case I withdraw the comment about SL having checked them. From the initial post I had assumed that the change was something initiated by SL, but from Dunstonh's comments it seems that it's a simple transfer of advisor.

SL have been active in buying firms but they brand them under the 1825 brand and they use SL's platform. They wouldnt use the Nucleus platform.

Nucleus tends to be used by boutique advice firms rather than general advice firms (but that is a big generalisation and exceptions will apply).
