Swagbucking into 2017

I only joined SB a few days ago, as a result of the mse email last week. I have to say that so far I'm finding it's a bit of a con.
. I signed up for one offer I thought would be okay (Shaw Academy) but not only has it not appeared in my activity, I'm now getting emails and even a request to contact me via telephone.
Looking at the swag feast leaderboard I can't understand how people have managed to gain so many points, unless they're actually spending money on the spend offers, or handing over their credit card details to dodgy sites. Even if they are spending money, I have to wonder why someone would bother for the "chance" of earning a measly 100SB extra at most - normal cashback sites surely offer better returns.
Shaw academy did credit for me (I think it tells you in your activity list that it is pending) , it took well over a week.
I guess the people with the highest points on these team challenge thingies are likely to be in the USA given the amount of additional earning opportunities they appear to have on things like ncrave0 -
Pretty sure they're UK only, I'm on 4300 or so. Have topped the list on a previous occasion.0

I'm disappointed I missed the swagcodes today! Oh well, I will try and do what I can on SB today anyway.0

There was a code at 6am?! SB doesn't start until 8am each day so what were they doing?0

The "points" are not the same as bucks so the 7 mobile apps without any bonus rounds are worth 350 points, there are about 40 watch videos worth a total of 600 points, 75 points from toolbar TV, 20 points for discover and that's over a 1,000 points a day without any points from search wins, swagcodes, surveys etc.0 -
The US site is far more lucrative than we have. Id bet most high earners are American.
They have offers that credit, cash back on their groceries at Walmart etc. US marketing budgets are HUGE, so Swagbucks has some of that much bigger pie.0 -

Yes I am on 4300+ at the moment. Not sure how I've managed that as hardly on.SPC#19 - 7-£666.54, 8-£489, 9-£264 10-£376 11- £305.8p 12 £329 13 - £315 14/£214 15 £177 16 £253 SPC 17 £0 of £250

I'm interested in more details about about how you do this, what to look for!
Thanks for your post and helpful comments.
You can use a browser add-on to block scripts. The one I use, which I happen to think is the best and also the easiest to use, is No Script for Firefox.
https://noscript.net/
(Note: you don't have to install from the above site, it can be installed directly by searching for it within Firefox add-ons)
Unfortunately, Firefox has just updated its browser and it no longer supports legacy add-ons, so No Script has been temporarily unavailable since yesterday. The developer behind it is currently working to make it compatible with Firefox's new release and it should be back soon.
I highly recommend trying it. It might be a little trial and error at first, as you need to manually enable the scripts that you want to run (usually for the website in question, and third party providers hosting content etc). However you soon start to recognise "trusted scripts", namely the scripts that are required to view a website's content. You will find most websites function fully with just a fraction of the scripts on the page. It's quite an eye opener when you see all the junk / third party privacy invaders etc. Really speeds up browsing too, and stops browser exploits like clickjacking.
You can customise it to suit your own browsing habits by permanently allowing certain scripts to whitelist them.
For cashback type websites (which usually require a whole host of third party scripts, trackers etc) it would be advised to disable the add-on beforehand to ensure the purchase tracks. Ditto, sites like swagbucks, hence my original comment.
Incidentally, there is a new trend emerging whereby websites are running scripts (sometimes inserted without permission by hackers) that use your computer's CPU to mine cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin. IMO, this is another reason to start using script blockers.
Hope this helps.0 -
They could also care less about fixing the daily crave which I've been raising for weeks now. Another way not to pay out.
It stopped working for me a couple of weeks ago, but someone on here posted a fix for it - I can't exactly remember what it was now, but I believe it was something to do with either a pop-up blocker or some sort of script that needed to be given permission.
Sorry I can't be more specific, but I hope that might help!
