Double and triple glazing

Anglian in their door-to-door literature says that "A" double glazing is the best all round solution, "A+" double glazing is preferred for solar gain, and "A++" triple glazing is preferred for heat retention.
Would there be mileage in fitting triple glazing to north facing walls and double glazing to south facing walls?

I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Some people make "typos" but I often make "speakos".

That's exactly what I've read on other forums. I don't know if it's correct, but any reduced heat loss may well be offset by a greater loss of solar gain. Plus TG is extremely expensive, so the monies may be better spent looking for improved savings elsewhere.Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.
For general PV advice please see the PV FAQ thread on the Green & Ethical Board.0 -
I thought triple glazing was used for noise reduction rather than heat retention?0

If you do intend to get Double Glazing it is well worth investing £1 or visit a library, to get the latest WHICH report - see:

Thank you, all.
After some reading (including the Which? report), I settled upon A rated double glazing for my north-facing elevation. The temperature difference between my north and south walls is considerable. I will tackle the south when funds permit.
I was not convinced that the triple glazing benefit would be significant. I am replacing 1996 double glazing.I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Some people make "typos" but I often make "speakos".1
