Not really mended, more finished :) I have been knitting poppies for the local Royal Engineers Museum exhibition, and used up all of the buttons and wool that had been donated / scrounged and made 145 of them. I made a llarge cross with them and have posted a picture on F/B but dunno how to post it on here, (not that techy I'm afraid ) but I am pleased with the result and a photo is on the 5000 Poppies for the Medway Fun Palace site. I think they have got 2000 odd at the moment The local people in the Medway are all trying to make enough for a big exhibition at the end of October and everyone is having a go the old, young and all the inbetweeners :) great community effort. I shall take my bagfull along with my DGS Henry tomorrow to their barracks. Another job done and dusted :)
No cooking tonight as a friend is treating me to a curry as a thank you for some running around I did for her. So a good day all round so far :):)

Congratulations JackieO on getting on all your poppies finished. I bet they look fab :)

crazytree yep I definitely find posting here encourages me.

Good luck with your weightloss Lyn.

Over the weekend, I cut the grass (much to the amusement of my next door neighbours, it was my first time and it took me a while to get going :rotfl:). I also did lots of weeding, thinned out the carrots, turned over the soil in the bits we hadn't planted in yet and planted more things. Was knackered by the end, gardening is hard work :p

Took the rest of OH's stuff to the CS. Flat looks much tidier now. Probably could do with a wee clear out myself as there's definitely things that I haven't used/worn since moving here.

We treated ourselves to a cheap wetherspoons lunch on Sunday and then the cinema. Were then too full for our roast dinner so we had it last night instead. Leftovers will go into a stirfry for tonight's tea.

    Evening All,

Am back from my friends doggie and house sitting. The MM&M lifestyle still stayed with me though. :D

Minimise: Me !!! By 2 Lbs!! Yea!! challenge now is to keep it off! :D

Make Do: We ate up the pasta bake they had yesterday eeeked out with some salad. I also bought stuff home from my friends that I had bought (not all of it obviously only bits she wouldnt eat up) which will come in useful! [Quite got into cream cheese Jackie O!]

Mend - well my purse, because, although going out to Fowey with my friend and having lunch out (a salad with blue cheese and walnuts yum! Sitting on a terrace out into the river in beautiful sunshine) I only spent £15 for lunch + ice cream (treat of the day!) :D so therefore so far this week within budget!

Had such fun on that day out - we managed to combine all of a our favourite things: dog walking; shopping for clothes (me in my imagination - my friend for real); eating wonderful food; enjoying an amazing location( look Fowey up on line - so pretty); paddling on the beach; picking up shells and stones off the beach and watching the dog go swimming. Brilliant day with minimal cost - it would have only been cheaper if we had taken sanis but the meal out was all part of the treat! ;)
But have about £4 for the rest of the week (till Friday) but a full pantry so no worries! Gonna start counting the NSDs again -
    had one today!
    Frugalling onward
Aim for Sept 17: 20/30 days to be NSDs  NSDs July 23/31 (aim 22) :j
NSDs 2015:185/330 (allowing for hols etc)

Greenhouse and garden producing well so clearing space in the freezer for this year's produce.
I bought some summer tops in Primarni but they are a bit too long for my liking so they're in the mending pile for a small alteration.
Quite a few 'bits' in the fridge so will have a clear out and cobble something together for tea tonight - that's all folks!
We finally have rain too ;)

  • Wow I just joined MSE and I'm loving this thread - some great ideas on here.

We've just been reduced to one income so I'm definitely going to be doing more MMM over the next few months.

    To start with:

Minimise: Just listed a load of clothes, random home stuff and things on local selling sites and ebay - hoping to get together some pennies and get rid of clutter.

Make do: Putting together a meal plan that uses up everything in the freezer and cupboards for next couple of weeks.

Mend: Finally finished a knitted blanket I've been working on (neglecting) for ages. Was originally for our own babies but I miscarried not long ago so now have nobody to give it to!

Hope everyone has had a good week, A

Welcome bettertogether, hope life improves for you.We are quite a friendly bunch so if you need inspiration, or just a natter join in and we are always here to help.

I was brought up during and after WW2 so making do and mending come as second nature :):):) good idea to minimise as well ,especially if it helps put some pennies on the table and gets rid of clutter

Hope you enjoy the ride :):):)

    Cheers JackieO xx

    Afternoon Everyone

Wow - last posted on Tuesday and now its Saturday already - where does time go? I had NSDs (no spend days for new folk! I too wondered what they were when I first came on here!) on Tues, Wed, and Friday of this week. thursday is our shopping day (for the week) and today Lid!l had some really good offers on which we shall eat - they are on tomorrow too - smoked salmon slices for 1.75, extra virgin olive oil 99p, Italian style jared red peppers for 99p. So I trotted off to avail myself of said offers today.

Have decided, over July to aim for 5/7 NSDs per week - am gonna amend my signature in a mo to show this. So that's great minimising - my spending! Lol Also made my son a choccy cake to say Well Done as he's got the manager's job at his place of work (He's only been there since April) so that minimised another jar from my cupboard as I had the scrapings in a jar of chocolate spread but wouldnt throw it out as in all there was about a desertspoon in there!:rotfl:

Make do, well, once again, we have spent 40 pounds ish to feed 3 adults and two large dogs and a baby (16 months - but eats about 1/2 an adult portion already). The meal plan includes a chicken which is scheduled to make 3 meals and a 'freezer night'- where we eat up a sauce from the freezer (we may not be able to ID it!!) over jacket potatoes and a 'lentil night'- where we use up the bits of salad, cooked veg etc and I make up some spiced lentils and chapati to eat up stuff! Also making do When I went to Lid!l today I realised that the Ónya' bag which I used was over 15 years old and was originally a gift to DS2 which I nabbed when he didnt want it! :D
Mend - gonna do those trousers in a moment - honest - I am - really - there may be a small matter of a cuppa tea first - but then - I will - I really will....... (trails off in vauge hope of finding another distraction! LOL)

Just to note - out my 30 pound spending monies last week - despite going out for lunch etc - I still ended up with 2.62 in purse which has gone off to various saving pots
    Frugaling forward!

Welcome to the gang Bettertogether! Lots of good advice and tips on here to help stretch the pennies.
Got my machine out and altered the Primarni tops and two extra that I decided could do will a tweak while the machine is out. Did 7 tops in all so holiday clothes sorted!
I was considering getting an air fryer - we only have chips once a week at the very most but remembered there is a halogen cooker in the loft that we used in the caravan before we sold it so I'm going to give that a try with frozen oven chips - if anyone has any tips/info all gratefully received

Mend - sewed a couple of buttons on and sewed the seam of one of our duvet covers.

Make do - used up the bits of leftovers in the fridge for supper.

Minimise - my hair by having a good 6 inches cut off!
