Hi
My parents are celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary very soon and I am trying to find a suitable present for them (they are an elderly couple). Are there any interesting/novel events happening around NI or the ROI in the near future or does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could get them. I have thought of booking them tickets for a restaurant but it doesnt seem very original.

I'm sure that your are aware its gonna be there Silver anniversary so if you google Silver or 25th wedding anniversay it will bring up a lot or interesting sites with many varied ideas.
Do they live in N.I ? You could always put them up for a night or two in somewhere like the Hilton and see whats on in the Waterfront/Opera House at the time . . . on their wedding night which hotel did they stop at or where was their reception held, nice to bring back the memories by arranging a meal or overnight there.
Got any Video/Cine footage (photos formal and non formal) from the wedding? transfer it onto dvd for them, arrange for additional camcorder footage to be taken and added onto the dvd from those surviving friends/family who attented (may no longer live close by) plus new footage from new family (like yourself) who were'nt able to be at the wedding, get someone to mix in still photos from the wedding plus people who are no longer with them - sentimental but can mean a lot to older folk, add on video and photos showing their progression through the years up to current day including kids/grandkids ect.
You could always just arrange a get togather with friends and family and have a bit of a do replicating the wedding as best as you can, bring back the memories with lots of 1982 music, Channel 4 launch, Falklands and Afganistan invasions, E.T, Ghandi, An Officer and a Gentleman - fancy dress maybe, it needn't cost a lot of money but just takes a bit of organisation.
Hope there is something there that strikes a chord.

Thanks a lot for that response.
I looked at the upcoming events at the waterfront and Beauty and the Beast is on, does anyone know if these shows are any good who are the main actors.
Thanks again.0 -

I have to agree with you chalky75. That was most important to us as well two years ago. Just having them all in one place, at the one time was enough for us.0 -
How about a basket with framed silver photo's of the family, luxury foods, wine, a couple of tickets for theatre/cinema, meal out voucher, etc. You could get together with the rest of the family and have a bit of surprise party for them.:hello:0
