How likely is getting more time to pay?

in Cutting tax
Hi, I am a sole trader. I owe £3600 for self assessment in Jan 2017. My earnings from Apr 6th this year have been about £4000. My work is now picking up and i have a lot more until next Apr, but I still think I'll be under my personal tax allowance so I shouldn't owe much in Jan 18. I have dropped my POA very low due to this.
So I'm going to call the HRMC for more time to pay next month. What are they like for allowing more time to pay based on these circumstances and how long can you ask for?
I can't get a loan or credit card as my credit rating is not good.
Any advice would be appreciated.

How did you sort out your problem with paying the tax you owed from 13/14?0

Basically, it's best to contact them sooner rather than later.0 -
Hi, yeah I got three months in 2014 to pay. I just read somewhere that it was less likely if you'd already had an arrangement in the past. I'm going to call them next week.0

Did you succesfully complete your last Time To Pay with no problems ? (IE did you pay all the instalments on time ?) - if you did they may take it as a positive sign that you will complete another.
You could also make the biggest upfront payment when you call, again this may positively influence the outcome.
Good luck !.0
