Sorry - going to sound entirely stupid but struggling with this.
Son has a 3ds xl. Bought Pokemon Sun for Xmas but it won't load. Friend told him he needed an SD card which we bought and it still isn't working. Game bought from Nintendo directly. All other games working fine.
Any ideas?

An SD card is included with all models of 3DS so you wouldn't need one unless it had little space left so you would need a larger capacity card or delete stuff to make space.
Is the game a download or is it a physical copy?
If its a card does it show up in the menu if not it could be a faulty card or a different region from the 3DS.0 -
We have a new SD card and have checked comparability so pretty sure that's not the issue. It starts to load and then the screen goes black for about 20 seconds and then it says we've removed the card.
It's a physical copy, not download.
How can I check region? It was bought from nintendo.co.uk
Thanks for any help. It sounds like the game itself might be a dud?0 -
It does sound like a dud cartridge, I've not had that behaviour on any 3DS game. I assume other games works fine on the 3DS?0

Does sound like the card is at fault I had a similar with a DS card before. I fixed it by cleaning the card contacts with a cotton bud dipped in rubbing alcohol.
By region I meant did the 3DS come from another country as I have 2 3DS consoles a American and a Japanese machine but the region mismatch would not see the card at all, so that isn't your problem.0 -
yes, all other games working.
Right, it sounds like it's going to have to go back! Oh the joys!0 -
So.....much googling and frustration later....the SD card was on protected mode. Works perfectly now!0
