Thank you Janb5, Rigere11a and SH.
Not quite sure what has happened to this week, it seems to have raced by! Yesterday was largely spent on a DIY task. I think I’ll have to get a plumber in for the next bit but at least I could see some progress.
The last 2 evenings have been spent at Job 2. The Covid situation is quite unnerving. There is a rise in cases locally to the extent that some hospitality venues have had to shut 😳. I’m keeping a face covering on while I’m working and disposable gloves, to be on the safe side.

Managed a tip trip and got rid of some rubbish 🙂. I got home and found another bootful so headed back to the tip thinking I had a good amount of time. Unfortunately the tip has changed its “summer opening hours” and appear to have gone back to a winter timetable😡. Even more unfortunate was that the signs for this were fixed to the gate in such a way that when it was open, it was impossible to see🙄. Never mind, thankfully they open tomorrow, so will try then.
Its been quite a relaxed evening as I’ve not had to go to work this evening. The younger DDs voted for macaroni cheese for tea, which I duly did. DD1 and I had soup instead. I made a batch of carrot & coriander ( DD1’s favourite) and a batch of lentil & bacon soup, which gave us enough to have some tonight, a portion ready to reheat tomorrow and a couple of portions in the freezer 😋. Dessert was raspberry custard tart.
I’ve had a couple of low spend days, or NSDs 🙂.paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

Oh is that Summer over with now, I know it’s getting darker now but Winter opening hours in August 🤷🏻♀️Always good to have soup in the freezer for a quick dinner.4

The soups sound really nice, but of course with my meals planned for the day, I now want macaroni cheese! Perfect 'comfort food' so added proof of the changing season. Stand by for casseroles and corned beef hash...
What a nuisance about the change in opening hours, I hope you can get in today.
It's not nice when there's an increase in Covid. We were there a few weeks ago but it's gone back to a bit below regional norms now. I hope your area gets back to low levels soon.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)

How irritating re the tip!
Have you found that you have reduced your grocery spend now their are less kids at home? How's your allotment going?Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

You are lucky you don't have to book the tip. We are apparently keeping this system, where you can only go once a week and need to book. Not happyDebt free Feb 2021 🎉4

Thank you Parkyp, Cherryfudge, SH, DAL & joedenise.
I had no idea that tips varied so much around the country! I will be doubly thankful that I can just turn up at ours .,,so long as I get the seasonal opening hours right😂.
Cherryfudge - Glad that your area is now below regional norms. Rates locally have rocketed especially in the late teens and twenties bracket. I must confess I was quite reluctant to go to work tonight. I am trying my utmost to keep a safe distance, keep a face covering on and gloves. I keep opening the doors at work to let a through flow of fresh air but my boss keeps shutting them😟. I’ve heard of lots of cases in the village too 😨😱
SH - my grocery spending has reduced to some degree. I’m buying much less breakfast cereal and milk particularly. We used to go through at least 42 pints a week but it’s more like 30 pints now! The cheese still goes down a lot as whenever DS2 pops in, he still seems to raid the fridge! The younger DDs are more vegetarian in their taste so I am buying less meat. I’m starting to get used to the portions more. Last time I bought meat for pasties, I bought the same amount but divided into 3 and froze 2 lots so I can now get 3 pasty teas out of the meat! The allotment is not as I’d like it to be. I’m not getting the time to get there at the moment between working and DIY tasks and taxiing children. The fruit bushes are doing well.paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

They moved our local tip from 2 to 10 miles away. Can’t get anyway without a car. We have to either hire a skip, pay for the council to take it or wait until they do their free rubbish removal in January/February.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4
