Anyone else had letters from hmrc go missing? Don't know if it's a Royal Mail or hmrc issue. It was a new tax code letter that I should have received in the 1st week of December. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem - would then point to an hmrc issue.

I had a tax bill go missing in early December - you know, the one that says this needs to be paid by 31 Jan OR ELSE...
My husband received a bill by post, and after a quick word with our accountant, I logged on to the HMRC web site, as she thought I should have got a letter as well. Sure enough, my account was shown as owing money too, so I went ahead and paid both bills online.
But I still haven't received written notification from them that money was owed. Had I not logged on, there is a good chance that I would not have known anything about it until after the deadline. We had both done out tax returns and paid what was asked back in the summer, as we like to get it done as soon as possible after the end of the tax year, to get it out of the way (we thought...)
This relates to an additional payment to cover NI, which HMRC stopped collecting by Direct Debit earlier this year. I bet some people will be getting caught out by this :mad:0 -
According to the mails website "500,000 letters a week just vanish".

Well thats an interesting take given letter volumes drop year on year.

The term 'Consignia' should have been a clue.0 -
Hi DawnW,
My details were one of the ones that got nicked from hmrc when one of their Child Benefit laptops went missing a few years back so didn't want to do their online account thing. But call me paranoid - they say they sent out 2 further tax code letters mid December (I'd only asked for one), which again haven't arrived.......as I've been getting other important mail ok......are hmrc actually sending them out? They keep telling me to sign up for their online account and wonder if they're not sending them out on purpose, so that I'll set up an online account.
