Gross Misconduct - Security Breach?

My DH appears to have been sacked. He received a letter from his company, giving one weeks paid notice due to 'recent activities'. My DH claims to not know what this refers to and went in to see them and they just referred to a 'security breach' and was provided with no further information. He has employed at the firm for less than a year and all seems to have been rosy until recently. Has anyone been in this position? Did they follow correct procedures? My DH is adamant that he does not know what they are referring to...I'm not sure what could be considered a security breach at any rate, given his job (customer service essentially). Also, what should he do when looking for new work - he has no idea why he lost his job, what should he say is the reason for looking for new work?

With less than two years employment then he can be sacked for any non-discriminatory reason.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Less than 2 years so no employment rights really, can be sacked for no reason at all.
The best thing to do would be to try negotiate a reference and hope they're willing to do that just to save man hours dealing with him0 -
He's certainly not in a position to be able to apply any pressure on his former employer, but all he can do is ask them again for more information regarding the supposed security breach. It does seem unfair if he genuinely has no idea what he has done.0

No words of wisdom other than my partner was dismissed for very similar about a month ago.
All was well, he had been there 18 months, he went on a weeks leave and received a letter inviting him to a 9am meeting on the day of his return. He alledgedly lost data when transferring between 2 servers he couldn't A) prove it wasn't him or
prove that if it was him it had been accidental so he was dismissed for gross misconduct, no discussion around the issue just gone.
I understand exactly how you are feeling xDebt at LBM [strike]£17,544[/strike] £5700:TOver £14,000 PAID OFF :T

It could be, but it could also be that DH has omitted some key information from the OP.....
Sadly, I don't think that DH has been entirely truthful with OP.... It is, in my opinion, MORE LIKELY that DH has omitted some facts than it is that DH was dismissed for a "security breach" with no additional facts being provided. Plus, it strikes me as odd that the company have formalized their position with a letter!
To the OP, your DH should be doing the posting on here. May I kindly ask why you are running around on his behalf? His future, his career. Get his *** into gear like!
You should also be more inquisitive about what your DH tells you; sacked for a security breach with no clue about what it was?! That's a bit of a red flag which needs exploring IMO!0 -

Possible 'security breaches' for a CS employee? Let me see:
- loss of data
- loss of card key
- unlawful use or disclosure of data
- misuse of the internet
- accessing prohibited areas of building
- overheard disclosing work issues in a pub etc
- leaving computer logged in and unattended
- misuse of social media
That's just off the top of my head.
It is extraordinary that the actual breach has not been explained - perhaps your OH could write to HR and ask for an explanation along the lines of expressing regret and wishing to understand the breach in order to prevent it from recurring in the future.
Are you really sure he's telling you the truth when he says he doesn't know? Or is it more likely that he is too embarrassed to tell you?:hello:0 -

I also have no clue! Gone are the days in university when I was expected to initially define abbreviations before using them!
Given OP's post, I assume that DH means either 'boyfriend' or 'husband'0
