Will the mortgage company run another credit check before completion?

I am due to move house in a few weeks time... haven't got the completion date yet.
To cut a long story short, I have credit cards that I need to pay off when I move as I can't afford the new mortgage payments and credit card payments. I want to get a personal loan to pay off the cards.
I cannot apply for a loan once I move as I will not be registered on the electoral roll at my new address and the earliest I can now get my name on to it is 1st January 2008. I need to get a loan while I am still at my current address.
My question is, does anyone know whether the mortgage company will run another credit check before releasing the funds? I am concerned that if they do they will see my loan application and this will then jepordise my new mortgage.

Some advise would be much appreciated! Thank you

  • Don't apply for anything until after completion, as the lender could run a check before completion and it could prejudice your mortgage application.

  • Thanks for your reply,

I am just a bit stuck now as to what I should do, I can wait until I am on the electoral roll in January but will really struggle over xmas! Is it worth taking the chance and applying now?

    Grateful for your advice:rolleyes:
  • If you declared the credit card debts when you applied for the mortgage, then consolidating them into a personal loan is unlikely to upset the underwriters. IMHO, you should tell them what you intend to do and get their OK up-front, rather than waiting until after completion.
