  • About 60mbps.

I'm the only person in the country who doesn't have access to Virgin Media by the looks of it.

Love living in a rural spot, (Gloucestershire, so hardly the wilds,) but don't get me started on Broadband speeds! Our TV reception is dire, so Sky is a must, (No cable / Virgin.) We don't have mains gas or sewers either, (Cheap water rates ;) !)
Just went to test out of interest and it couldn't complete the test due to a connection error!
Eventually it hovered around the 2.8 - 3.3, then shot up to 10.6mb
    Upload speeds 1.19mb

For "ping" lower numbers are better but it doesn't usually make much difference unless you are a serious gamer (it's to do with response times)

Download is the speed you can receive information - a really slow speed can make pages take longer to load, particularly if there are lots of images on the page. You generally need 2 to 2.5mb upwards to be able to stream video (4mb and up is better) and the higher the speed the more you can do at the same time/the more devices that can be connected at once without anything slowing down.
Upload is the speed you can send information - for entering competitions upload speed would not often make much difference if you are just putting information on a form and submitting it, but uploading photographs for instance could take noticeably longer with a poor speed.

I can't get VM. They installed their cables only a little way up our road, so the first three houses can get it but not the rest :D

I do get 38Mb on a 38Mb line with BT, so I can't complain too much.
