Best way to freeze Leftover turkey?

morning all. I have leftovers to freeze. Do I freeze turkey in gravy-cold gravy I assume? And how best to reheat?

I am a bit nervous about this but want to be thrifty and use it all up.

Thanks

Sliced, in gravy. Wrap in foil so you can just use that when you reheat it.
Open freezer door, lob it in, shut the door.

You can cook from frozen, or defrost. Time depends on quantity really.

Or, just wrap it as pure meat, no gravy.

Optional: Label it .... unless you like Surprise Dinners in 6 months' time when you rediscover it at the back of the freezer.

I'd definitely recommend wrapping in foil.

It depends what you'll use the leftovers for as to whether to freeze in gravy. Meal sized portions of slices or bits would be fine if you wanted to make a pie or curry.

I do this throughout the year with gammon joints.

We don't eat turkey & don't have leftovers when we have chicken but for beef, pork & lamb I just slice the leftovers up, portion it out, wrap in clingfilm, label the portions and put in a freezer bag.
If I have any left over gravy, I put that in a plastic container separately.

I have got 5 portions of turkey in the freezer, just in sandwich boxes. Re heat by making up bisto, pour over and cook in oven for 30 minutes at gas mark 6
  • Thanks all for your useful suggestions. Reheating suggestions helpful as I am a wuss when it comes to reheating meat.

    Thanks

Hi, It is understandable, but if you stick to the rule of defrost raw meat once (assuming in the case of turkey) or start with raw meat. Cook once, freeze cooked meat once, defrost and re-heat once, then you will be fine.
