I absolutely must be sat watching a Christmas film by two this afternoon
I want that too so I'm going to use Little Mate (almost 3yo) as a reason to put The Polar Express onTru thanks for 'Tru's carol corner' its something I look forward to every year, your family party sounds fab, and seeing as we were separated at birth I suppose technically I am family
You may grace me with your presence at middayBulletproof0 -
Good Morning everyone just waiting for the car to pick us up to go to Hertford Town Hall for the wedding. So excited and everyone seems to have arrived.DGD Holly posted on F/B this morning a video of Olly Murs who sent his best wishes to DGS Danny and Hayley his wife to be when she met him last week What a nice chap to take the trouble bless him. My Dd is extremely excited as her baby boy is finally flying the nest and his wife to be is such a smashing girl. Right must fly as its all go at the moment
Have a great day everyone and if I don't get back on today
Happy Christmas to everyone

Well, while you lot are all sitting waiting for Father Christmas, or possibly the Hogfather (for the Pratchett fans) we are sitting here waiting for the plumber.
Our cold bath tap broke yesterday evening, and cannot now be turned off. Mr LW has switched off the cold water supply to the bathroom, so we're having to flush the loo with a bucket.
It's a good job we don't have any visitors coming!If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Morning, a bit late, but better late than never ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one, especially those of you who have poorly relatives.
OH did not sleep well last night for some reason, we were reading and drinking tea at 1am, so late waking this morning. Not a problem, not much to do. I have made 18 mince pies this morning, its yonks since I made pastry, I hope they are ok, not that it really matters OH will eat them anyway.
At last I have sorted my new phone thanks to the chap at Samsung and google, its amazing what you can find on there if you are looking for something.
I ironed the duvet cover yesterday so need to put the sheets etc away. I had a load of laundry in overnight, its on the line.
Yesterday afternoon was very windy, it died down around 5 pm, but back this morning, will go out in a bit and see how dry the laundry is and may be bring it in and finish it off in the dryer. I can fold it and put it away apart from a couple of shirts which I will iron.0 -
Happy and peaceful Christmas to all my MSE friends, thank you all for the comfort, advice and laughs. I hope that in 2017 I can get back to meetups which have been on a back burner for various reasons.

LameWolf - what a time for it to happen, hope it gets sorted soon.
I've been out, faced the wind, to deliver the trays of puddini to two neighbours. Had long chats and cups of tea too, along with some lovely chatting. When I arrived home I found loads of venison in my fridge from another lovely neighbour. Four loins, a topside and two packets of diced venison from the deer he got on Tuesday. It's all now vacuum packed and in the freezer. Two of the loins were destined for Christmas lunch but there'll be another day!
Fire is lit. Washing put away. Lunch eaten. Now I'm sitting down to enjoy the first Harry Potter film again. Small pleasures!
Hope everyone is doing OK.0 -
Hello all!
Gers thank you for starting the thread. This morning at 5 I was awake and tempted to start, but didn't want to chance it in case I made another duplicate. Then I fell asleep again and woke up at 10:45!
TA glad that Mr TA is better. Sounds like you have the whole Christmas thing in hand!
Lainey I hope your DM will be well enough to enjoy the festivities.
Tru thank you for the carols, I do sing them to myself for a while after I have stopped posting!
JackieO enjoy this beautiful day, you must be so proud of your DGS and of all your family, and rightly so.
LW what a nuisance! Wrong day for it to happen, hope it gets sorted out quickly.
I hope all of you affected by the weather are keeping warm and safe.
Sending warm thoughts and hugs to all who need them, especially Coxy and her DSis and Hilstep.
I am lying on the bed in my mother's flat, terribly terribly sad. I have such a difficult family. My mum is a difficult lady, my sister is also very difficult and unpredictable to boot. Suddenly she decided not to come over at today, then sent me a message that she would not even come tomorrow "because we all said that we don't care about Christmas and it is a day like another". It's not exactly what we said, but never mind. My mum is quite upset but not showing it, but I can see it.
DH has a horrid cold and is sleeping in the other bed (I took the little one because the big one is hard as stone, but he sleeps everywhere).
We are estranged by our DD, who chose a destructive relationship over her family. I miss DS terribly and am just lying here typing on the iPad and crying.
I will try my best to have a serene, low-key Christmas with my mum and DH tomorrow, then try not to tell my sister what's what on Boxing Day, if she bothers turning up, that is.
Then we are off! I booked and paid for 4 nights in a very good 4 star hotel at the seaside, stuff the money, we will just need a treat, it is the Christmas gift that DH and I are giving to each other. A few days of peace, I hope.
My mother asked what if DH is still ill or if I catch it, when we get there, and I replied that at least we won't worry about passing our germs to anybody (my sister's other excuse for not turning up) and if we cannot leave the room we will use room service.
When I think of how many times this has happened, the thousands of pounds and enormous energy expenditure, the heartache, I have gone through to be with my family of origin, it just breaks me. It is a very disjointed family, not much love. My sister and I are estranged from our brother. So much bad history.
To all of you who have a united, close and loving family, enjoy your beautiful Christmas and treasure the precious love you share.
If any of you have strife and arguments in your family and my post resonates, I hope that you manage to have as peaceful a Christmas as possible.
To all my virtual friends, I wish you all the best, health, peace and prosperity.
xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Hello everyone from the queen of fsiry-lights. Our sitting room is all twinkly and pretty now, and smells lovely and spicy.
I think I will be here tomorrow, I am usually up many hours before my family. But I know that not everyone else will have time so I would like to wish everyone as happy a Christmas as possible, with much love to those who are unwell or sad and troubled.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Hugs Caterina, my L&M's family are exactly the same, we try to avoid them where possible.Chin up, Titus out.0

Good news - the bath tap has been replaced. :T Our excellent plumber has also supplied a matching one for the wash basin, which he will come back and fit on Tuesday, along with a new CH thermostat, because that too is acting a bit hinky and is clearly on its last legs.
Caterina (((HUGS))) Families - who'd have 'em?! I confess to being a little envious of those of you who have happy family relationships - I've been estranged from the whole toxic lot of mine for years. However, I have the best DH I could wish for, and that's what matters to me these days.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0
