PCN from ParkingEye

Have read the stickies here, but I'm still unclear on my legal status:
PCN from ParkingEye for £85 for overstaying 2 hour free parking at Morrisons in Fort William (Scotland).
Spent £199 in the store on that day and did not notice any signs about parking charges so will try my case with Morrisons first on the basis that
1. I didn't see the signs so they weren't obvious enough
2. The charge is unreasonable, especially given that I did a big shop at the store that day.
But if my appeal to them fails, what is my legal status in Scotland? The letter was addressed to my wife as the registered vehicle owner (what the **** the DVLA are doing handing out these details to the likes of ParkingEye I don't know, but apparently it is legal), who was not the driver, so they don't know who the driver is.
Anybody who really is in the know (please don't answer unless you are sure as it will only add to my confusion) please can you let me know where I stand if I don't pay this.
Thank you

Easy. In Scotland they can't hold the keeper liable, so do not tell them who was driving.
Even better, Morrisons cancel EVERY SINGLE ONE when people email to complain:

I wish all cases were this easy. Can't get easier - Scotland and Morrisons - a marriage made in heaven! Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
