Screwed over yet again by another amazon driver agency..

Hi guys, I had worked for a company called AHC services who supply delivery drivers on behalf of Amazon to deliver their parcels until last week Friday.. I was self-employed with them.

I was told when I got back to the depot that my services are no longer required and to leave the company van and fuel card and to make arrangements myself to get back home..

Up until this point, I was paid on time, every week, it was a little short every time but I was glad to be getting money in my back pocket, you know being a university student and Christmas literally being on the doorstep.

So now they haven't paid me for last weeks work and the week before. (This Friday would be the day I got paid for last weeks work that I worked, and the week before last I worked meant that the Friday that had just gone should of been the day I got paid for that particular week..

On top of that, when I started, I didn't get paid for 2 weeks. I signed a contract saying that I agreed that the first two weeks that I work with them, they will hold onto this money for 60 days when I leave in case I have any outstanding fines..

Now I know I can't do nothing much about this as I've signed a contact knowing that, so I will have to wait 60 days for my first two weeks that I've worked for them but they owe me my last two weeks pay packet, money that amazon have already paid them in advance to pay the drivers but unsurprisingly going by a dozen posts from people who were in the same boat as me who have worked for AHC services in the past they have had no luck in getting what's owed to them even going down the small claims court route. - I keep hearing that have an extremely good lawyer...

Now, I used to work for APLE a sister company of AHC services in another depot a few months back before I started with AHC - I was shortchanged by a couple hundred every week until I left, I was planning on taking them to the small claims court until I found out about them being a sister company of the most recent company that Stop correcting "I've" just literally left.. Again, being a student and needing the money to pay financial commitments and with the job perfect to fit around my uni work, I was hesitate taking them to the small claims in case AHC services found out and got rid of me straight away..

I'm owed about £1600 with AHC services and roughly £1500 with APLE with incorrect pay. - With me paying them £5 a week for them to have accountants to do my taxes and provide me with payslips each week, which I never received to show breakdown of weekly pay/bonuses etc..

What I'm trying to say is what would be the best legal avenue to go down in getting my money that is owed to me? - Paper/electronic trail of the days and hours worked shouldn't be an issue as both Amazon and AHC services should have the relevant documentation.

Could I use bailiffs to try and seize their assets to get what's owed?

Perhaps a finding a good solicitor to bring a joint civil action from past and present AHC/APLE workers to get what we are all owed, over the months/years we've worked for them?

When I last posted on here about APLE a few people from the BBC PM'd me wanting to get in touch with me to do an interview to discuss what was happening.. I was reluctant due to starting with AHC and in case they seen me talking to the BBC about what was going on with pay and conditions..

If anyone has any media contact - Please get back in touch with me, I'm ready to get this all out there with many media channels out there. AHC must be dealt with, their practices can no longer continue and I want what's owed to me.

AHC services were in the news a few weeks ago,(cannot post links but just typing their company in google will show plenty of links.. heavily reported, though it seems like Amazon have turned a blind eye to their practices even though they were heavily slated, something must be done.

Many thanks.

  • You was short changed a couple hundred per week??? How much was you earning???

Good luck, the way you was told to leave indicates bad blood, personal vendetta or not, this shouldn't be happening.
  • Well I worked 5 days a week, averaged 14 hour days and I was only picking up on average 210 a week. When pay should of been roughly 375.00 a week for 5 days. (£75 a day fixed rate pay regardless of hours) this was for the first company..

It's so frustrating. Christmas around the corner and going to be miserable as I have no money to do what I want.

    So angry and frustrated.
  • The biggest travesty is making people work 14 hours a day for what some of us earn doing a 9-5.

The failings of the self employed route. And technically if he was self employed (though it stretches the definition), he was free to stop work when he wanted.

What I don't understand is why if the first company didn't pay you, did you go and work for an associated company and expect better treatment?

And you were in breach of domestic driving regulations, just an aside.

why do you have 2 accounts here? (I presume you are the OP too based on what you posted).

I tried resetting my password as I forgot it but emails weren't coming through so I created a new account and yes that's my other account.

Whilst the hours and the job is self isn't great the job gave me the freedom to work how I want to without a manger bossing me about..

It fitted around my uni life too. I know I was working 14 hour plus days but all I was thinking about was the 100 odd quid day I was earning which helped me with some financial freedom to do a few things that I wanted to.

The folks that are still there got paid today(every Friday is payday) whilst myself a few others haven't got paid, I have less than 10 quid in my account and I don't think I'll get any money with it now being Christmas, I'm going into the new year felling depressed and angry.

I just wondering will I stand a good chance of taking them to the small claims court and winning or no?

I want to protest outside Amazon's depot where I work and block the entrance until I get my money. Can I get in trouble with the police taking into considering the situation I am in. No pay??

You'll simply be moved on by Police. but only arrested if you persist.

Such a course of action will do you no favours, though.

Enjoy the Holidays as best you can and then see a solicitor in the New Year.

The Uber judgement may be useful for you, as it may have given you the rights of a worker whilst on the contract, and therefore entitled to minimum wage.
