15 Minute Interview

I have been invited to a job interview on Friday. I had to select an appointment time online. All the appointments were in 15 minute intervals from 9.30 to 1.30. Are they likely to be seeing people every 15 minutes? Seems a pretty tight schedule.

Not sure what they can tell from that short time. Possibly just a screening exercise to whittle it down for more intense interviews?

  • What is the job for, maybe they dont need more than 15 minutes to see if you can do the job.

It may well be a sifting exercise from a long list of applicants. If so 15 minutes will probably be enough. Alternatively they may have more than one person doing the interviewing to get to a short list.
I've interviewed people where it has been obvious in far less than 15 minutes whether or not they'd be able to do the job.
  • Hard to say I had a competency (no test) interview in just over 20 minutes before now and their still making there mind up couple of weeks on so you never know. You beat me I thought my interview tomorrow was going to be a stretch but Friday might be much more of a winner for you! :)

They can tell whether or not you stand a chance of getting the job.
I suspect there will be a second round of interviews. I have interviewed a few people and I have known within 30 seconds whether or not I am likely to give them a job or not.

Likewise I have also been in interviews myself and known within 10 minutes that I have no chance of getting it.

Yes, been there before too. Body language give a lot away.

I would expect there to be a second round of interviews in the New Year.
  • May be they don't need to interview more than 15 minutes.
  • Seems 15 minutes was all it took. Got a phone call on the way home offering me a job. Not the one I actually went for but something that to be honest I will probably be better with anyway.

    Certainly cheered up my Christmas.

Our ,interviews for drivers are about 15 minutes, it's all we've ever needed and most of the time it works out right.

I'm not convinced that some of the long winded interviews for relatively straightforward jobs achieve any more than working on gut feeling.
