Student paying off debt in RoI

Hi all,
I'm looking for advice on repaying debts (credit card, personal loan, overdraft - to the amount of £4300) that I accumulated in the Republic of Ireland. I lived in Ireland for nearly 9 years and returned to the UK last March. I'm looking to take out a loan here to consolidate my debts, but as I have been out of the country for so long I suspect that I haven't build up enough credit history. Is no credit history worse than bad credit history? If so, what options are available to me? I'm also faced with the added expense of transferring funds to Ireland - I made a transfer a few months ago and I was hit with a fixed fee of about £20, so clearly I should try to pay everything off in one go.
I have just gone back into higher education as a mature student and currently live off my student loan (hooray, more debt!!) but I am seeking part-time employment so I can clear my debts.
If anyone has experience of paying debts abroad, I'd appreciate any advice you can offer.
thanks,
