Which Bank Account For DMP
Cloud_2
Hello everyone. Newbie here. Not qualified to be a member of the DMP support thread yet but it shouldn't be long now. My starter pack is in the post (eek). I would thank all the people whos threads and posts have helped me so far but there are just too many names to remember. An all round thanks is the best I can do. I can't believe how many people are members here but well done to all of you for doing so well and being so supportive. I hope you're all finding some time to enjoy yourselves now and then (rare, I know).
I have a question, if I may be so bold, and though I have searched a lot for my answer can't find the info I've been looking for.
One fact that might change things - I am on Jobseekers Allowance right now (hence the DMP).
My question is - Which basic bank account do I apply for before I begin my DMP? Of course I will need a DD facility. Please correct me if I'm wrong though.
My creditors who will be subject to the DMP are:
HSBC
HSBC MASTERCARD
DIRECT LINE FINANCIAL SERVICES LTD.
These are banks I have ruled out so far due to being connected to HSBC and DL:
NATWEST (part of DL)
RBS (part of HSBC)
NATIONWIDE (it seems peoples DMP's rejected a lot)
These are the banks I am not sure about:
HALIFAX (??? I have my suspicions they are part of RBS)
SMILE
COOP
LloydsTSB
Hope someone can help (I know I don't deserve help really as this is all my fault but I've really changed my financial ways over the last two years and am determined to soldier on as I can't change the past). I know this advice does not come free (oh how I'm learning from dealing with my creditors) and any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Oh, and if anyone thinks I should copy this post, delete it and start it in a different thread I'd be grateful if you could let me know. And though I've got my Editor set to WYSIWYG I can't get the controls (bold, smilies and such) to work when typing a post. Can anyone help with this as I am getting better with PC's but just when I think I know enough I seem to get stuck again. It is my aim to master these forum controls otherwise it's annoting for everyone. Cheers muchly.

Hi welcome to the board, and feel free to ask however many questions you need answered. You will find loads of moral and practical support on this site.
Regarding your basic bank account, what location are you in, could you use a local bank, I'm thinking, for example, bank of scotland, clydesdale bank. Is there anything like this in your area??Official DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0 -
Oh and I think you can get a dd with any basic account as long as it doesn't make you overdrawn.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0

Hey t-v-t (hope it's okay to call you that). Thanks for the reply. I've noticed the understanding and support on this site and it's inspiring to see so many others so determined. I myself am in Kent and I shall look into what local banks I could try. Yeah, DD's don't seem to be a problem do they. Well I better go and get looking really as time is of the essence (and time is money of course). Cheers.
Hey rayday2. Cheers for replying. Thanks a lot for the link. I went straight to CCCS and have dealt with only them because they've been really helpful. Payplan is one site I haven't visited. I'm going to have a look now.
Cheers muchly to both of you. Hope you're doing well.0 -
