I'm the person that would leave a curry on the stovetop for 3 days, so probably not the best person to give advice! However, whichever way to do it, I would reheat it on the cooker rather than the microwave, just to make sure all the meat is cooked throughout.0

2 or 3 days should be fine. The critical bit is not so much the length of time in the fridge but ensuring that the food is reheated properly and is piping hot throughout.0

A stove top makes no difference.0 -

Typically my wife will could food on a Sunday for the week. She'll typically do a beef, chicken or lamb curry and we will eat it over the week. In general I want to know but especially now as she is pregnant, is it a safe thing to do?
When you have cooked meats, is there a general rule how good they are to remain in the fridge?
If she has always done this, there is no reason why she should stop just because she's pregnant.
Curry especially can keep for a long time.
I have some beef in the fridge that I cooked on Christmas day.0 -
I'd always been told cooked meats should only be kept in fridge for 2-3 days maximum. Even ham and bacon normally needs eating within 3 days once the pack is open. As so many people have suggested, pop the leftovers in a freezer bag or tuppaware dish and freeze for future use, in fact curries taste even better after they been frozen! Same with stews.
Those packs are full of processed and preserved meats. They go off very quickly.
Go to a butchers, and you will see a plate of sirloins in the fridge for weeks.0 -

If you put cooked beef into StillTasty, it recommends 3-4 days in the fridge.
Did anyone ever see that program where the host ate out dated food? Some of it was way past used by dates, but he cooked and ate it and it was fine.
Curry is used in Asian countries to make rancid meat palatable. Other countries eat putrid fish. If you;re stomach is used to it, it;s fine.
There is so much wastage in this country due to over zealous 'Health' advice.
Go into a Deli and see the big joints of cooked meats. They don't all get thrown away after a couple of days :rotfl:0 -
TBH, it wouldn't be the potential health issue that would bother me.
It would be the bore of eating the same thing night after night.
So I'd batch cook and freeeze what we didn't eat and for the rest of the week take something out of the freezer that I'd batch cooked previously.0 -

I do this too with chilli con carne. Once cooled, I portion the chilli into airtight boxes and fridge. It's very handy for my daughter who works irregular hours. However- we do cook a fresh portion of rice as needed- we don't fridge the rice. The longest a chilli has lasted is about 5 days, but that's because we ate it all.0
