Well Open are now no longer an option!............just had an email from PowerNI advising me that Open electric have stopped trading and I have been switched to them (Keypad) - new keypad number supplied. Prob now switch to click
*Actually after reading on Utility regulators Q&A on this it appears I cant switch from my "new" supplier Power Ni for 20 days.
7. Can affected customers switch from Power NI?
Customers of Open Electric have been switched to Power NI to ensure there is no
disruption to their electricity supply. 20 working days after transferring to Power NI,
customers will be able to switch to a different electricity supplier if they choose to do
so. If you would like further information on switching supplier, you can go to the
Consumer Council’s website where you will find their energy price comparison tool
But if you are a bill payer any debt you have will not be passed to Power Ni but may effect any deposit!
9. What if I have credit on my account or paid a security deposit?
On this occasion, the Utility Regulator will endeavour to ensure that security deposits
and credit that customers had with Open Electric, are returned to them, if logistically
possible. We are working through the logistics of this, which may take some time to
arrange.
10. What happens if I was in debt to Open Electric?
Your debt will not be transferred to Power NI and is a matter for Open Electric’s

Got the email too. Bum deal. Funny I just topped up my keypad yesterday with no problem. I dont like the idea that we were shuffled over to PowerNI with no choice. Ah well, just have to wait 20 days and then decide. Its a real pity that the smaller companies struggle to make it. Maybe thats why Budget have bumped their prices, under pressure, although bumping will only make them lose customers. Maybe they will be next to go??I started out with nothing......And still have most of it left:p0

But the 20 days only starts when you "officially switch" - that is when you next top-up.
But when you do the remaining credit you have will, as if by magic, change to Power Ni keypad tariff0 -
I have about £100 in my keypad. I'll just run it down to zero before topping up againI started out with nothing......And still have most of it left:p0

In this instance, I think it's a good idea to cancel any DDs to Open Electric, unless you want to be nice and let them collect money you know you owe them.
PowerNI aren't getting the DD details and will be contacting us to set up accounts, no automatic transfer of the payment is happening.0
