Cleaning up my old flat after I move out

Ok, got almost everything out now bar a few white goods and some items from kitchen cupboards (and heavy tv I left as not enough room in van)

I have my vacumn cleaner ready to clean up, and vax carpet shampoo machine to clean but what else?

The main worry is the paint scuffs (not the plaster/chipboard) i.e it looks like black chalk

Apart from that, not sure what to do, the bedroom walls have a sticky mess where I laid against wall which I attempted with sugar soap but the paint was so thin it took that off as well, and if I am gentle it just lightens the mark and stops it being sticky but doesn't get rid of it.

And I guess just a gentle wipe down of all kitchen cupboards and sides.

Anything else to think of?

I always notice when I move house above kitchen cupboards are very sticky and its the one thing I forget, shall I clean them if so whats the best thing?

  • Sugar soap is the best for sticky marks and scuffs on paintwork.

The magic erasers you can get from places like Wilkos are brilliant for scuff marks. You need to be gentle using them (and test them in an inconspicuous place first) but they work really well for small marks and scuffs.

Already tried sugar soap but it was a tub of concentrate stuff, so not sure if I got mix right, and used a gentle cloth on it and it seemed to just make paint crumble than get rid of the mark
  • Flash liquid gel on a soft cloth well wrung out in warm water is gentle but effective on scuffs and greasy stains .
