Byrom And Keeley Rip Off Or Real Help ?

Hi all hope you are well !

My partner was contacted by BYROM AND KEELEY whilst I was at work ( temp ) and by the time I got home ,you would think that shes got shares in the company - they had her on the phone for nearly 2 hours and now to her they are the awnser to all our debt problems

Theres something about them that dosent smell right to me though - the paperwork they sent her to fill in looks cheap and generic and how did they get our address and phone number anyway ?!!

Does anyone on this site ( second only to Ebay in my view ! ) know anything about them or had any dealings with them ? - I have read a couple of posts and they are not encouraging

She is keen to try and settle this ASAP so has given me this weekend to try and find out about them or she will take things into her own hands

Thanks for reading

    To be honest if they want any money what so ever id tell them to bog off, dont sign anything.

    Free advice is available here and through organisations such as payplan, the CCCs and CAB.

    These people are just making money out of other peoples misery

    this page sums it up

    http://www.debt1.co.uk/debt-consolidation-loans.asp

    How you choose to spend any cash is up to you, why not:
    * Holidays
    * Improve your home
    * Have extra cash to spend
    * New Car
    * Holidays

    what it should say is

    why not get yourself into even more debt by taking out loans with us and:
  • Hi There, I knew before I looked them up they are another debt consolidation service, pretty poor one at that, it said byrom and keely finacial services - they cant even spell!!!
    I would definately NOT go with these, there are registered charities that help you set up a debt management plan FREE OF CHARGE have a look at cccs or payplan, these seem to be the most popular, hope this helps

    Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts
  • Hi could anyone give me any advice please? My fiance took out a debt management plan with these over a year ago and to be fair they have dealt with his debts very professionally but a few of the comments made on this thread have scared me. If its only because people havent had first hand experience with them then please let me know or if they have reason for distrusting them then i would like to know that too. Hope someone can help, Vic.
  • Hiya,

    Just a quick note to anyone thinking of using this company! They are absolutely useless! They made late payments to all our creditors, they told us to forward all the post we had on to them, then not realising how bad it all had got we have now got 2 defaults with lloyds tsb and alliance and leceister because of this.

    Our credit rating was good before them and they ruined it, and its taking years to sort it out again.

    So my advice to anyone is not to use a company that makes money from peoples debts, they do not care about you just how much money they can make.

  • My husband and i started a plan with Byrom and Keeley over a year ago and so far so good. we had spoken to a number of different companies but these seemed to care the most about our circumstances (some clearly just wanted our money).

    the initial advice was really good, we didnt want to go bankrupt (didnt want the whole street to know) but it was a little hairy with all the phone calls we got for the first few weeks from creditors, we rarely get any at all now and at least we afford to live.

    I would say that everyone should be careful about who they deal with but we were okay with this company.:j

    Agreed, you can get assistance from the debt charities for free!

    Any of the above posters who are paying for these services should talk to the CCCS or PayPlan and look at switching to them (if possible, I assume so?). It will save you a lot of money.

    Irrespective of the amount of help, you are paying extra money every month in fees which could go to pay off your debt. What is B&K's percentage fee?

    You can get the same service for nothing with a debt charity.
    If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
  • I would steer well clear of Byrom and Keeley. I know this is an old thread but I thought I'd post this as warning to others. I used Byrom & Keeley as a debt consolidation service, they told me there was an arrangement fee of £75 and the rest of the money would go to my creditors, this was not true.

    I later found out that the first 2 payments I made they kept as a fee, they were £425 and £350 each (the first including the arrangement fee) and 17% of all future payments, I'd been paying them for about 6 months by the time I realised this. I also after making 2 payments told them I could afford to keep up £350 as they'd pushed me into an amount I couldnt really afford, so it was lowered to £280 per month-this re-arrangement meant they kept the third payment.

    I was told that I didnt qualify for an IVA so I was just on a debt management plan, however after several months of paying them I was called and told that I now suddenly qualify for an IVA, and they could try to set that up. I asked why this wasnt done initially and they just said 'oh its different now' which was all the explanation I could be given, I asked if there was an extra fee for this and was told they'd keep another full payment for trying to sort out an IVA (another £280)

    Despite all this, I was getting constant letters and phonecalls from my creditors telling me that my arrangements were in default-Byrom & Keeley wouldnt release payment to the creditors until several weeks after I'd paid them, in the end I stopped paying them and started making the payments myself-which is what I shouldve done in the first place. Despite that most of my creditors had by this time applied ample charges and referred the debt on to collection companies I was able to make arrangements on them all myself and had no problem since, Byrom and Keeley are just trying to make as much money as possible out of people who can ill afford to waste money, and will do little or no work on your behalf, cowboys to say the least, theives at worst.
  • Please dont go with Byrom & Keeley In 2006 I was told if I pay £600 per month my debt would be paid in 5yrs, that they would deal with everything it just sounded a good solution at the time. I didnt realise I would be paying £100 per mth to them for providing the service and I now have a county court judgement against me (Nat West) My credit score was good before going with them. Now I have been told I have a further 15 mths payments to make and the judgement wont be cancelled until 6 yrs has lapsed!! I feel as though I have been well and trully conned. None of this was explained to me before hand
