Daniels silverman court action

Hi,
I found this site after stumbling on a similar post, which I am not allowed to link to as a new member, about Daniels Silverman threatening to take legal action for a parking ticket debt.
I signed up for a 12 month gym member subscription, and was told at the time that my contract would automatically expire after the 12 months. Naturally, I cancelled my direct debit payment once the 12 months was up. Then all of a sudden, a few weeks later, I get bombarded with calls from the gym, demanding that I make an extra month's payment, because "you need to give us 30 days cancellation notice". After doing some digging, I found out that there are many complaints from people about these types of gyms exploiting their customers with these clauses in their terms and conditions that they keep very quietly until it's time to leave.
I received another phone call from the gym a few days ago, and I quite bluntly told them that I am not paying. Today, I received an email from Daniels Silverman, demanding that I make a payment of £70. I don't think they have brought the debt. I believe they are acting on the behalf of their "client". I have since moved out of the area and I am adamant not to pay based on principle.
Any advice would be much appreciated. I am a recent graduate.

Hi,
If they mention "there client" then they are just acting on there behalf yes.
Basically there's nothing they can do but spout hot air.
