It's over!

Options
I just have to share - after 6 looooong years our final payment to our IVA was made on Dec 1st 2016 - it's over! Finally! Could not be more happy.

We do have to fill out some form of PPI forms which im sure we have already done so i need to look into that - but roll on the day we get our certificate!

I wouldn't wish the experience on anyone but the lessons we have learnt are invaluable and overall i'm grateful we kept our house and learnt how to be financially responsible.

Anyone else going through it, hang on tight, it's a bumpy road but you will get there in the end!
Everything is always better after a cup of tea

    Congratulations, mine ended in 2013.

Certificate of completion may take a few months to arrive.

  • Fabulous news, well done.

That 6 years has now brought you a life free of debt so well worth it in the end.

Your credit file should now rebuild itself very quickly, but that may be the last thing on your mind of course. My own tip for people who have finished IVA's is to divide the monthly payment they were making into 3. 1/3 to overpay on the mortgage, 1/3 as a savings pot, and the remainder in your own budget for a few treats. If you do that for 12 months, and you are used to that amount as an expense anyway, then you should be a lot better off. Whatever you choose for yourself though, good luck and well done again on your achievement.

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Well done.

my 6 year one finished a year ago and completion certificate (letter with notice letter) came 2 weeks later as did removal from register, but many state it takes longer.

It takes a while to sink in and to actually believe it's over.

    Have a good Christmas
  • Congratulations! I would echo your comments, mine finished in August and I received my completion certificate in October. Still on the IVA register, but I expect it will go next month.
    Have a lovely Christmas!

Congratulations! We're finishing ours in July - I cannot wait! And like you said, the lessons learned, though painful at times, are going to last a lifetime! Merry Christmas to you - and a VERY happy New Year 2017 ... debt free!
