Can I freeze fresh ginger?

hi all
DH bought a pack of fresh ginger in A8DA -way too much for one recipe. Can I freeze it or do you have suggestions for using it up please?

I have some frozen at the moment, I grated it up, and split it into portions before freezing.0

yep. i freeze my ginger whole and grate straight from the freezer. x0

Have to admit, I used the kenwood for ease when it wasn't frozen.0

I freeze it and grate on demand. Picking up a fresh bit at the supermarket, you get those very flimsy little plastic bags. I just make sure that's wrapped round tight, open the freezer door and lob it in
