NMb Mortgage Acquistion

Hi there new member here.

So a few weeks ago my mother in law sadly passed away.
My wife had no idea that the flat she purchased in 1992 has appeared to have been signed over to NMB mortgages just 3 years later (1995)
We have no documents for this and do not have the money to throw around to check as when she passed we had to pay half the funeral costs as she died penniless.
Can anyone give me any advice or tips as it seems nmb does not exist anymore and we are unsure which way to go with this as the flat is in a terrible state of disrepair and we don't want to be stung.
Thanks in advance.
Paul
