Smart Meter (In house display) working with Solar?

I have contacted British Gas about the In House Display of my smart meter not holding a screen display (goes black). They sent out an engineer with a new one ... and when I mentioned I like to see the solar generation, he said that's why it isn't working, it won't work with solar panels. It is a known fault (but they know I have solar, they changed everything to a smart meter after the solar installation, they pay the FIT payment), and are waiting for a new type to be available to them. So, apart from why did I waste a half day waiting in for them, and why did they send the same one out when they know I have solar, does anyone else have an In House Display unit that works with solar, and who supplied it to them?
I know the one I have doesn't work when I change supplier with MSE Energy Club, but I am now back with British Gas, who installed it.

Hi Woof,
We had a smart meter installed by EDF back in August ( or September ) ....
The in house display works fine - or should I say as it is intended to.
Although the actual meter itself has a display that shows live inport & export the display inside only shows consumption figures live, as well as historical & cumulative consumption and cost.
I have asked EDF when the display unit will show alll the information available from the meter but I get the feeling that is some way off.
