            To me, it depends why you downloaded the material, especially as the only recipient was you. You could have been writing an academic treatise on racism and sexism, or collecting examples of unacceptable websites, for all your employers know. Of COURSE it was stupid to do it at work.....Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0

When I worked for the Civil Service it was acceptable for staff to use the internet for non work related purposes in their own time i.e. during lunch breaks and before/after working hours. Rules around content still applied.0 -

But OP stated that they are black. I'm not sure why this was relevant, as it does not matter what the colour of your skin is; using the N word is racist whether you are black or "white".
Would be unfair if a black person was given a more lenient punishment than a "white" person in this scenario.
Hence having to be careful about positive discrimination. But maybe that would actually apply to a "white" person in an identical situation and not OP's?0
