Mum & fellow medical students decorated an entire childrens ward using just greenery & pinecones, and everyone was happy with it. (Candles forbidden as piped oxygen.) A few thoughtful walks around local parks with the secateurs in a coat pocket & a bag for life in another, and you should have the doings to decorate with.
Add colour with tinfoil, and by making things using unloved clothes. Felt pieces can be tricky to source & /or expensive whereas a stained Tshirt has plenty of usable fabric & the stained bit for stuffing/padding.
A few candles do add something that other lights may not, but a poundshop battery powered string of lights can add charm & be used Loads of different ways without as much fire risk.

Have a Happy Christmas regardless of decorations!
  • Put a shout out on your local freegle for any unwanted decs to give a loving home to, I suspect you will be inundated.

And ditto on the making it from nature, we have made 2 garlands one for the door and one for the stairs from foraging.

I got a bag with eight sheets of red felt from The Works recently It cost £2. I downloaded a pattern with reindeer, a heart, a star etc, cut them out and did a simple blanket stitch round the edge in white before stuffing them. You could also use red gingham if you have any.

It also might be worth visiting Hobbycraft if you have one locally. they had some Christmas decorations reduced last week.
