Response:
Dear collector/wife of director,
Thank you for the invitation to donate towards a gift for the company directors. However, I am sure that you will agree that my gift, already given over the year, has been far more beneficial to the company moving forward. I refer, of course, to the additional time that I put in by being at my desk before my starting time, taking shortened lunches and breaks when I'm particularly busy, and never leaving on the dot of 5.30pm. These small amounts of time add up a great deal over a year, and I am certain that the company directors would rather I continue to donate additional time instead of a financial contribution that would be worth far less.
Additionally, they would surely prefer a happy employee rather than one who feels bulldozed into giving money to someone who earns far more than themself.
Please feel free to pass by my desk without stopping,
Misterzim

In the company I work for, it goes the other way, we get a Christmas bonus decided on by the MD. I have already had mine this year; I was sent to Dubai in October for meetings with project/commercial managers. My son and daughter in law happen also to live in Dubai. By Jove, my son is a commercial manager and his lovely wife is a project manager.;)“And all shall be well. And all shall be well. And all manner of things shall be exceeding well.”

I'd be tenderly wrapping a penny bit in tissue, then a leftover gift box, then in bubblewrap with Plenty of sellotape (the company's) & handing that over...
However, my children would enjoy unwrapping it so much more...0 -

The MD wouldn't happen to be you, would it?0 -
MMMM I would be embarrassed if any of my staff did this. We get our staff a Christmas thank you but expect nothing in return.
I do think it is a cheek. Christmas presents should be something that you want to do not are made to do. You have a job you are paid to do and you do it. You should not be guilt tripped into giving.Happiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A0 -

No chook, I'm not a director of any sort, just company secretary. However, the company is a consultancy, so the people in it are our biggest, if not only, asset.“And all shall be well. And all shall be well. And all manner of things shall be exceeding well.”

Chook? !!!!-a-doodle-freakin'-doo, baby!
I'm glad you work for a company which appreciates its employees; so many don't.
What do you think of zero hours contracts? They make me think of the Great Depression, when people had to show up at well before the crack of dawn and queue for work for a day with no idea, never mind guarantee, of whether they would work the next day. How were they supposed to feed their families? Progress? Yeah, for the fat cats.
Don't mean to hijack the thread, y'all, sorry.
ETA: "!!!!-a-doodle-freakin'-doo, baby!" MSE, get a grip!0 -
Weird. I wouldn't contribute either. Perhaps they have done a good job but what about everyone else who works hard and probably gets paid a lot less. I'm actually surprised anyone contributes.0

I remember this from last year!
May I suggest you give your directors a fun present like this - https://www.glitterretribution.co.uk/0 -
Forced giving is never good. This would have upset me. No one should expect a gift for simply doing there job, for a hell of a lot of pay I expect!
I work for a charity. We haven't got a pot to !!!! in and there's no staff bonuses or special gifts or even a paid for work Christmas party. We organise it ourselves, pick an affordable dinner out and pretty much everyone goes from 0hrs (I dislike 0hrs contracts too) to director. We all do a secret Santa of a maximum spend of a fiver or something homemade. It seems pretty fair. I actually got someone very senior but I don't mind spending a fiver on them as someone is on me! If it was more than a fiver is struggle to make space in my budget for it and would maybe resent it a bit, but the majority of the employees don't earn a lot and I generally, on the whole get the impression people feel they could say no.0
