0T Tax Code

in Cutting tax
Hi,
Just got access to my HMRC Tax Account online and it is pretty funny reading.
Their income tax estimate for me in 2016/2017 is on there as £209,000......which I'm certainly not going to earn this year! They also have me on a 0T tax code which I think is wrong as I won't be making more that 100k this year in salary and others.
Why is it so wrong and whats the best method to get this fixed? A phone call?
Thanks

You can change your income estimate on line. Does it show your correct income to date ?0

The real story of your tax affairs in the last few years would help.0 -
have you changed jobs part way through the year? (they may have doubled your salary by mistake, rather than just updated the details for your employer). just a thought.I have a tendency to mute most posts so if your expecting me to respond you might be waiting along time!0

Well I gave them a quick call and all sorted. Combination of my employer paying me some owned money earlier in the year and HMRC using some historic tax returns where the majority of my income came from dividends and capital gains.
All in all they were very easy to deal with. New tax code issues and the money owed going to be paid through wages now.0 -
