Where to Go Advice Needed

So I have a poor credit rating and have just been rejected for a Capital One card for people with poor credit.

I need something URGENTLY to get through Christmas.
My house is sold stc and I'm due to get a big chunk of equity from it which I will use to pay off ALL outstanding credit I have (£30k approx).

Do I have any options - other than going to a loan shark!!

Advice welcome.
Many Thanks,
Phil

What stuff do you need for Christmas?
"Facism arrives as your friend. It will restore your honour, make you feel proud, protect your house, give you a job, clean up the neighbourhood, remind you of how great you once were, clear out the venal and the corrupt, remove anything you feel is unlike you... [it] doesn't walk in saying, "our programme means militias, mass imprisonments, transportations, war and persecution."

Hi Phil - Unfortunately if you've been rejected for a sub prime card then you're unlikely to be able to secure any other lines of mainstream credit.

What do you need to pay for so urgently that you are considering going to a loan shark? If it's for presents, please take a step back. NOBODY would want you obtaining money that way just to buy them a gift!
If you have kids to buy for then just make do, there are plenty of bargains out there, you don't have to spend a fortune for them to have a good Christmas.
  • It's the age of austerity.

    Buy them a colouring book.

    Merry Christmas.

How long will it take for the house to sell or is it how long is a piece of string ?

What exactly is it you need to get through christmas thats urgent ?

If its gifts, you dont have to buy them before xmas, buy something small, cheap and once the house sells buy them something else. You can even wait till after christmas and buy them something.
  • In the past when I have had cashflow problems, I found that the following tip works well with the kids/wife etc.

Create, print and laminate a nice word doc with some nice pics etc of a nice event - eg "Trip to Eurodisney", "New puppy", "new kitchen" etc etc

Then wrap up then wait to see their delighted their delighted faces on xmas day!

Mind you, after 3 years I think my wife is getting wise to the "new kitchen" ruse!
