Massive unemployment.
Mark Carney has warned up to 15 million British jobs could be replaced by robots amid a “merciless” technological revolution - and economists are among those who could be affected.
The Bank Of England governor said middle-class service jobs such as accountants, auditors and estate agents could face upheaval at the hands of emerging artificial intelligence.
He said: “Up to 15 million of the current jobs in Britain could be automated over time.”

And research into the effect of automation on jobs has already revealed those roles most likely to fall to computers.
Sod brexit. We won't need markets when we can't get jobs.

Maybe straighten your tin foil hat.
The same man said that after brexit the UK economy would crumble immediately (didn't happen).0 -
Personally - I'm surprised there doesnt seem to be more awareness of this.
Maybe there'll be a little more awareness on from things like that fiction tv series running at the moment on this - ie "Humans".
I'm only too thankful that I'm now retired personally - as the office jobs I did were being hit a lot over some years by computers anyway. Now with this coming up - I think that might well do for rather a lot more of them.
Not that professional careers are necessarily going to be exempt from this either - eg I believe solicitors, for instance, might end up finding machines doing their jobs. That would be a mixed blessing - as I can certainly think of where I could have done with a better one (ie on house purchase) on the one hand. On the other hand - I wouldn't have been sitting there gobsmacked at just how bad the "other side's" solicitor had managed to be in another respect:D0 -

I think its fairly cringeworthy.
30 years ago computers were going to replace as many jobs apparently. They didnt.
The sort of technology required to have robots perform roles like hes talking about is decades away.0 -
Automation in one form or another has changed working practices for centuries, and will continue to do so. The Luddites smashed machines to stop change in the late 17th / early 18th century and failed. The unions tried the same in the 60's, 70's and 80's and failed.
Wailing and gnashing of teeth won't stop change happening again. People have to adapt.0 -
So the population needs to start reducing by 15 million pretty quick.0

Not to worry. Before any of this takes full effect the cats will have taken over the world and enslaved us all.0

Capita has revealed it will cut 2000 jobs due to robotic automation.
Capita has also stated that IT is the fourth revolution, following that of the industrial revolution.
Over time its obvious that robotics will replace workers, along with IT. Just look at the car industry, how about the clothing industry, or part of the mail industry (internal mail sorters hardly exist now).
Those who think it will be rosy are not looking to the future or the past0
