Pressure Cooking Beef Short Ribs

I've never cooked beef short ribs before, by any method, and have some that I want to cook in my pressure cooker (like instant pot). I've only had the pressure cooker a short time and made stews, casseroles etc so it will be the first time I've tried a cut of meat.

Any help or suggestions as to how to cook (pressure, time) and what to make or have with the short ribs would help enormously. Maybe should have cooked the short ribs another method before trying this so I know what I'm working with! :rotfl:

For ribs, I'm finding best result are to use a dry rub and balancing the rack on a halved onion with a bare egg cup full of water ( I don't want a baked mess to clean)

Give them the 6 or 8 hrs on slow, then let them get cold so you can scrape the fat off. Reheat with the sauce left behind. Better still under the grill using the sauce to baste

That sounds like instructions for a slow cooker not a pressure cooker!

    Pressure cookers cook very quickly.

OP - sorry can't help as I've never cooked short ribs.

Oddly enough, I was Googling this earlier today as I've recently bought an Instant Pot and short ribs is one of the things I'd like to have a go at. There are loads of recipes out there - Nom Nom Paleo's looks interesting (scroll down, it's somewhere on this page :))

What I did with mine was to brown the off really well, some sauteed onion, garlic then they went in the Sage on 60kPa for 40 minutes with about 150ml beef stock, 100ml red wine and they were absolutely delicious and falling off the ribs. The sauce (after straining off the fat!) made an excellent gravy too.:) Will definitely be doing them again.
