Just got an email from Budget telling me their new rate of electricity will be 14.84 inc vat. They are letting you terminate your agreement by giving notice by phone, email or post at least 5 working days prior to 30 December 2016

The most expensive direct debit price out there now.

Looks like SSE at 12.63p is the cheapest.

You timed that well. 14.84 is the new 12 month fix price.

The standard no fix rate is a rather hefty 16.19p

I wonder is this the start of all the companies increasing their rates?

yup, and the salesman said £30 credit which later I discovered was £20. Not worth taking the day off work for the engineer...
  • I left Budget years ago for a decent deal on SSE. At the time I was paying Budget a set amount per month Direct Debit, but when I switched I never heard from them again. By my reckoning I was still owed a few bob by Budget, but never bothered chasing it up.

Point is, they didn't bother sending me a final bill, or contacting me to outline the closing balance. However am sure if I'd owed them they'd have been on pretty sharpish!

For that reason alone I wouldn't even consider them again.
