Underpaid Income Tax - Every Year!

Hi all

I have attempted to contact HMRC about this previously, but to no avail!

For the past 3 tax years, I have had an amended tax code, as I have allegedly underpaid income tax.

I have been fortunate, in that during each tax year, my salary has been increased, however, as this is my only income, surely the % they take from the increased salary should be correct and shouldn't lead to an underpayment each year?

Is anybody able to clarify whether this is correct as I feel it's been miscalculated somewhere!

Without details no-one can give you any idea what is happening here. Suggest to start with....
The P60 details for each year, taxable gross, tax paid, tax code and anything following this ie X.
The details of the amended code and why it is being ammended.

Thanks! Didn't realise somebody would be able to calculate on here. Will find my P60/P800s over the weekend to get the figures

I know it's old school but, did you try writing a letter to them explaining the situation?

I had a tax bill for several hundred £'s.

Puzzled as to why i received it, all tax paid upto date. No tax rebates so it should have been a simple get paid minus tax and sorted.

I phoned them and had to explain to the guy what my earners were and the tax limit so why have i received an additional bill.

3rd time lucky, he clicks and gets what i am saying but doesnt know and he much have cancelled it because i heard nothing back ever again.

It is correct and just an annoying facet of how HMRC works - but at least you are getting an interest-free loan in the mean time :)
