I think if you don't know what DB means in the context of a pensions thread, and you don't when when / if you contracted out, then you're on a bit of thin ice ranting!

Think back over your employment history - you may be a deferred pensioner of a scheme - it will be worth your while to check.

Why did you have to fight tooth and nail, unsure whether you mean a redundancy payment or unemployment and or other benefits, but they should be simple processes.

Once you have those details and ideally also a list of your past employers the pension tracing service will be able to use the information to get you contact details for the pension schemes.

Because I went self employed after being made redundant. Lasted 6 months. Went to job centre to sign on. First time I had signed on. Went through me like a dose of salts. Talk about being made small. Might be a simple process for others. It was a nightmare for me.
