Crayon off a blackboard?

My friend's daughter's blackboard has been scrawled with crayon. The colour of the crayon has wiped away but it has left a waxy residue that can't be written over. Any ideas?

That eraser sponge I think JML do it? that will probably do the job it seems to get crayon off my walls without leaving a residue. I bought mine from Woolworths0

Could you iron it gently through brown paper? Hopefully that would dissolve the wax which would soak into the paper.0
