My partner has had a DMP with Payplan for about 2 years. He tells me any correspondence he gets from his creditors is forwarded to Payplan to deal with. This evening his Mum called to say somebody had called at her house (my partners previous address) to collect an outstanding debt on behalf of Burtons. This we believe to be shown on the Payplan paperwork as GE Capital Bank, and so we're confident that Payplan have been paying them each month. His Mum felt that she should at least give the guy our address, but as we were out, and haven't seen him yet, we don't know if he called. My partner will call Payplan as soon as they open in the morning, but in the meantime, I'm worried that he'll call back, and if he does, what we should do. My partner will tell him that as far as he is concerned, Payplan are handling the debt. Should this satisfy him, and does anyone know why he was calling in the first place? Any advice would be welcome.

I would try calling GE capital first thing in the morning and just explain that you were under the impression that payplan should have been paying them every month and could you just check that they have been receiving payment..
I have found GE Capital to be understanding when you are on a DMP.. You have nothing to hide and nothing to lose by calling them.Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

I would ring Payplan first and just check that GE Capital have been being paid on your DMP. Then when you get that reassurance, ring GE and say that Payplan is dealing with it and not to contact you (or your mum again).

Thanks to you both for your advice. My partner spoke to Payplan this morning and they have assured him that they will call GE and sort it. We were so tired last night that we did actually sleep anyway!!!0
