What's your average monthly bill?

As the title says really.

I have just received my bill for gas and electric, I am having a look at my useage. I have a two bed house, 2 adults, 2 children, 2 reptiles, 1 dog.

I use

Gas:
Bill date
27/07/2016 - 24/10/2016

Days
90

Total
£37.51

Useage 950 KwH3

Electric:
Bill date
27/07/2016 - 24/10/2016

Days
90

Amount
£79.85

615 KwH3

That doesn't mean much to me, but my DD didn't come out this month due to being paid late by my work, so got an email to say they haven't received a payment. Log in and I'm £167 in credit, I pay £67.00 a month.

Does this seem accurate to you? Am I using too much for a typical household?

Have you been giving regular meter readings?

If not you supplier will have been estimating your usage, could they have been under-estimating?

You may not have been paying enough via your direct debits.

    ETA:

    I've just had a bill it covers 19.10.16 - 29.11.16 ( 6 weeks ish) 2 bed house, 2 adults.
    Gas=£64.92 Electricity=£34.66

Look carefully at past bills. Meter Readings that appear on bills with an 'E' are meaningless. You need to calculate your usage based on two readings with an 'A' or 'C' annotation. Count the number of days between the readings and use this to calculate the standing charge. Multiply the units(kWhs) used by the unit price. Add this to the standing charge and add 5% VAT.

The above will give you a usage total between the two actual readings. Calculate how much you have paid in the between months and add/subtract any credit/debit. The problem with catch up bills is that they can give the impression that a lot of energy has been used in a very short period of time - when the truth is that the usage has been accruing over many months. The message is that regular readings by the customer can avoid this type of situation.

You will now have to ask your supplier for time to pay.

£66 atm, may increase in colder weather. Regular readings sent via EDF website. That's for Dual Fuel, when we had ancient Eco7 Night Storage heaters, it was (AAAAAARRRRGGGGGHHHH!) £175. For electricity only.

Sheltered Housing bungalow, 2 oldphart inhabitants.
I think this job really needs

    £40 a month all in..
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
