  • "Jamie at Home" is also available on the Book People website - price is £9.99 for Points Passport holders. There's usually a free delivery code floating around (check on the discount code thread). That's the best price that I've seen so far.

I have ordered it from my local library for 60p! I will give it a read, if there are any recipes worth keeping I will copy them out and then return it.

LOL that IS money-saving! I suppose one of the suppose on of your local Librarians/procurement officers must have been watching it on TV?! Was the 80p a 'booking fee' so to speak?

he/she said 60p not 80p. Yes most libraries allow you to 'order' any book for a small booking fee.

I'm quite surprised to read this as our local library doesn't charge a fee at all, at least they weren't doing last week when I ordered a couple of books online. Hope they haven't changed it since then, I must ask next time I go to collect my books.

Thanks my daughter will be pleased
  • Our library is rubbish I have just checked the online database for Jamie at home and Nigella Express and they don't have either. Can I order it for them to either buy it in or get it from another authority?

THe charges for reserving a book are council-dependent. Many years ago you could reserve any book free of charge here in our council libraries too. But gradually over the years they started introducing a small fee. Still, 60 off pence is not bad considering you usually only read a book once then never touch it again. BEtter get it from the library and a bargain at that price for 3-4 weeks :) (and of course you can renew the return date)

ah, thanks for clearing that up. I suppose, as with most other things council-related these days, it's only a matter of time before it's universal :(
