After a prolonged period of stress, HRT and ADs, my long wavy hair is coming out and getting thinner. I don't meant finer, actually thinning ie less of it, to the point where my hairdresser has assured me I have no bald patches.
Has anyone any advice or suggestions to help me? (I can't come off the meds so please don't suggest that ) Maybe recommendations for shampoo & conditioner or products to bulk it out a bit? I'm not the greatest at hair, but have a decent dryer, straighteners & a Babyliss Big Curl.

            Hi floss
Sorry to hear of your problem, that must be quite worrying.
I also have noticed i seem to be finding more and more hair in my brush every day and it's getting quite a worry for me as I have just past 40 and my hair seems to be getting finer.
I have noticed many of the local pound shops are stocking several hair thickening serums etc by the likes of Pantene pro -v etc which I have started using lately. Maybe you could have a bash at trying them.
However, I noticed on some forums that the actual Pantene Pro v shampoo has been getting a bad press but I've not read anything about the serums. maybe worth doing some research before using it but I've got no complaints.
I hope you find a solution to your problem Floss

How long is it currently? Getting it cut shorter might make it appear thicker as you won't have the weight of it pulling it down, if that makes sense.0

It's just past my shoulders and layered. I had about 2 inches cut off about 5 weeks ago.
I don't really want to go any shorter, as the maintenance of any style is much increased!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

I have always had fine hair and the thickeners don't work. The last one I tried just made my hair greasy.
Fine hair is more fragile, so limiting the use of appliances, especially straighteners , is a good idea.
I do have the appearance of having more hair since giving up my shoulder length hair and having it cut chin length with streaks.0

There is a dry shampoo range which have a volume one. It's good for second day flat hair.0

Have you had any blood tests recently? I found my hair loss was due to 2 conditions (although there are others), namely B12 and also severe iron deficiency, it has improved a lot with treatment, although I still lose quite a lot of hair each day. I take either a multi vit and mineral or a B complex each day with a little extra Biotin which is known to be good for hair and nail problems.
I am not qualified to give medical advice, just noting what my situation was and would recommend anyone do their own research before taking supplements as some substances are not recommended for some medical conditions or with prescribed medication. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. Thanks - as I said in my original post, it isn't fine, there is less of it.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Maddiemay thank you, I've just had a full blood count which determined that I'm not low on B12 or anaemic (or diabetic ). I will look out for a supplement, but it needs to be one that won't clash with the meds or my IBS, so that may be a challenge! 2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇 ). I had this issue recently although no curly hair! And it was shoulder length too. Very fine and lots coming out on the hairbrush. AAGH.
Went to hairdresser in a flood of tears. She said, "it needs to be shorter love, the weight is dragging it down"
So I went with it. Short bob to hairline, and layered.
 OMG the difference!
Honestly I feel so much better about myself now.
Longer hair pulls it down, shorter, as I have discovered is a revelation!0
