Low mortgage balance, any products available?

We have been told that, because our mortgage balance is below £40,000, we are not able to access our building society's mortgage products, so will go on to their standard variable rate when our current product ends. Is this our only option? It's nice to finally have such a low mortgage, but not so nice that our monthly payments will increase 😩
