new mortgage when on maternity

I'm in process of buying a new property however my wife is on maternity leave and on maternity pay.
Would this a problem when applying for a mortgage or does bank consider the salary slips before her maternity started ?

That depends on what income/hours she will be going back to and what childcare costs are going to be.
