Chiltern Railways Carnet tickets? Banbury to London

So i'm starting a new job that will involve travel into central london 2 days per week. It looks as though the 2 days travel will cost the same per month as a season ticket would!
I've come across the Chiltern Carnet ticket option online and tried to phone up to ask for prices but they don't know them over the phone and you can only buy them at the Marylebone office! Very strange way of doing things I know.
Does anybody have experience with these tickets and at what sort of cost they work out at?
Appreciate any help and/or advice.
Thanks,
Ben

The carnet costs £679.50, offers ten return journeys and is valid for three months.
It shows in the National Fare Manual, so it may be possible for any ticket office to issue these.0 -

They'd have to be a lot cheaper for me to consider using them, given the potential pitfalls and criminal record if you make a mistake...
