UK Govt Overnight Loans
(This might not be the best place to ask this question, so apologies if it isn't the best place to ask)
Does the British Government accept Overnight Loans from foreign finance houses and brokers and individuals ?
I know that Britsh Financiers lend to foreign governments on the overnight money market: does the UK Govt accept such loans to itself ?
Thank you

Interbank Lending. I suppose that since there is a Libor GBP overnight rate then we do but don't quote me on that. Strange beast though: What are we going to do with the money? We'll be asleep

Not entirely sure about the question, however, the Bank of England pays a rate of 0.25% for overnight sterling deposits from UK-registered financial institutions (i.e this is the Base Rate) - which includes most major banks in the world as 400 odd foreign banks licenced in the UK.
Never heard of them taking deposits from corporates or individuals, not least because the amounts would be tiny. The only exception I can think of was Huntington Life Sciences who were given accounts with the BofE - but obviously very special circumstances there.0 -
