Cost of an audit

Hi,
I am not sure this is in the right place but I am sure someone will tell me if it isnt.
I am currently putting together a piece of work which assesses the need for my company to instruct external auditors to come and look at the way we deal with our customers (generally and from a complaints perspective).
I am fast approaching the cost/benefit stage of my considerations but I am unable to find any figures online as to how much this type of audit might generally cost. Does anyone have any experience in this area?
I can locate the costs of how much companies spend on things like financial audits but as this is customer service orientated, I dont think those figures are all that relevant.
Any advice, thoughts or links would be much appreciated.
Thanks,

The cost would depend on the size and type of organisation. An NHS Trust spent around £3 million on McKinsey reviewing their customer facing operations, but that's going to be an extreme case, and the cost would be offset against a reduction in insurance costs.0

Thanks Bogalot, do you know if there is anywhere that would list the amounts spent by other companies on such audits?
I am thinking businesses like Network Rail, Virgin, Sky, BT, O2 etc.0 -
Sounds as if you might need a mystery shopping company. Just ring a few and ask how much they would charge (and then marvel at how little they pay their MSers!!!)Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0

I would think that unless the cost is detailed in their annual accounts then it will be commercially confidential.0 -
Rather than ask on a message board, where nobody can give you a sensible answer as they have no idea about the job required, or your organisation, I would find some companies that do this type of work and ask them to come in to discuss the work and give you an outline quotation for the job.0
